Over the last week or so, I’ve read several articles about Hercules & Love Affair. But there’s a very good reason for that. Their forthcoming single, ‘Blind’, features Antony of The Johnsons fame and is a total disco anthem (Listen to it here). It evokes seedy early-80’s nightclubs, and would fit snugly beside Soft Cell, Yazoo and Bronski Beat. It also reminds me of ‘Voyage Voyage’ by Desireless (see below)
They’re signed to (LCD Soundsystem’s) James Murphy’s DFA Records and is basically the pseudynom of one Andy Butler, along with various guest vocalist friends. But even better than ‘Bind’ is their 70’s discofunk theme tune, aptly titled ‘Hercules Theme’ which you can download here. On all accounts, the forthcoming album (due in March) is a bit of a classic, so I very much look forward to hearing it.
